Maternal Mental Health

Pregnancy and postpartum recovery are not for the weak. No doubt you will discover new reserves of strength you never knew you had. You don’t need to find your way to wellness alone! I work with women in the year before and after birth to care for their mental health by:

Creating daily self-care habits and routines

Supporting your discovery of yourself within the new and all-consuming role of mothering

Establishing an accessible mindfulness practice amidst the chaos

Honing self-advocacy skills to rally your village with clear intentions and communication

Maternal Physical Health

They say the physical feat of labor is like running a marathon. It is like running a marathon, except you don’t celebrate with a hearty dinner, hot bath, and massage to soothe your aching body. You catch a baby at the finish line and hold in your arms your own beating heart. In this marathon the finish line is really just the beginning.

I work with pregnant women on strength and flexibility in preparation for labor and delivery, to prevent and heal common injuries like diastasis recti.

I work with pregnant women and new mothers to coach safe body mechanics while caring for baby. Common perinatal injuries, like carpal tunnel syndrome and DeQuervain’s tenosynovitis can be mitigated with ergonomics.

Making Meaning in the Mess

The early days, weeks, and months of mothering can feel like never-ending wiping… bottoms, noses, tears, countertops…

We feel our best when we believe in the value of what we do. But, as mothers we often ask ourselves “Am I doing this right?” Down the rabbit hole of Google we go!

I am here to pull you away from the search bar and help you focus your precious energy. We’ll work together to establish habits and routines you can trust to facilitate your baby’s social, cognitive, sensory, and motor development. For all your hard work, you deserve this peace of mind. You will see a direct impact on your own mental health and watch your baby thrive.

Common topics I support new moms to address include:

Healthy Skull Development: Preventing the need for a corrective helmet

Safe sleep practices that actually include sleep

Creating a productive and fun tummy time routine for neck, core, and arm strengthening

Designing a sensory-rich daily schedule to feed your baby’s growing brain

Promoting early love of literacy and communicative play
